Rylie

I just looked back through my posts and realized that I haven't post about Rylie in quite awhile. I wanted to do a better job of journaling for her. I don't want her to end up being the typical last child with no pictures and no record of her growth. Over the last 3 months I feel like all we have done is try to figure out what has been making this little girl so fussy. We made two trips to Primary Children's; once to have an upper GI done to see how bad her reflux was and another because my doctor saw her have one of her screaming fits where she would jerk and then scream and she thought she could possibly be having mini seizures so she sent us to have an EEG done on her brain. Not fun. They put somewhere around 24 electrodes on her head to measure the brain waves. It was an experience I don't want to do again soon.I love the way she is holding my hand in this pictureUgh, I felt awful putting her through it!
Luckily everything came back normal, but then we were back to square one trying to figure her out. Luckily we have a great doctor who finally figured out what her major issue was...she has "toricollis", her neck muscles have developed differently. Her head started to always tilt to one side and one side of her neck has been developing more than the other. The muscles on one side are tighter than the other, making her feel like she has a kinked neck all the time. That is why she would jerk, when she would turn her head too far. We have been doing physical therapy stretches and it has made a world of difference. Holy Moly thank heavens GREAT insurance!
She has been such a little piece of heaven lately. I can not believe she is already 4 months. With everything that has been going on I don't feel like I have been relaxed enough to enjoy her. She has been so smiley lately, I melt every time she looks in my direction. I love the way she coos and squeels and reaches and grabs for things. I love that when her daddy walks in the room and starts to talk she immediately looks for him and grins ear to ear when she finds him. I love that she is so chubby and I have to unfold her neck to get her clean. I love that her brother and sisters fight over who gets to talk to her and make her smile and who gets to hold her.
I took her to the Dr. this morning though and she now has croop. Poor baby is still smiling in between coughing her head off! (I don't remember the first two going through so many colds and sicknesses...is this just because we live in Utah that the last two have been sick SO OFTEN!! ) She weighed 16 and 1/2 pounds this morning! Wow, she's a big girl!
