The little things...

Every day there is chaos and crazy, but it seems that every day there is a moment that reminds me why I wanted to be a mom...I need to start writing more of them down. Most are simple, but large enough to keep me in check.

Today I dropped Ellie off at preschool and ran to get a little shopping done at the grocery store. As I walked through through the produce, the smell of the bakery caught my nose. When I glanced in that direction I saw all the doughnuts they had just put out covered in chocolate frosting and bright valentine sprinkles. The sprinkles reminded me of Ellie, the girl LOVES sprinkles. It made me miss her...she had been so good this morning, getting ready in record time. No fits and no dragging her feet. No arguing over what to wear. I wandered over and got her a chocolate covered doughnut with sprinkles. When we got home she was telling me about preschool as I made her lunch and when she was done I told her I had a surprise for her...Her eyes grew big and a grin slowly spread across her face, "You dooooo?" I grabbed the bag that it was safely hidden in and she quickly covered her eyes, so cute! I put the doughnut on her plate and told her to open her eyes. She uncovered her eyes and they quickly sparkled with joy as she yelled "A Doughnut WITH SPRINKLES!" She jumped up on her chair and opened her arms for a hug which I happily took. My hug was accompanied with "Thank You, thank you, thank you, you're the best mommy ever!"
Those moments of seeing the joy I can create with such a simple thing and the great reward that comes from it are one of the many reasons I am a mom!
